Thunderbird Field always looks great, a not too easy task
since it is open to the public. Each Friday an all volunteer
crew, lead by Bob Bishop, grooms the field. They mow, edge,
vacuum and blow it clean. They empty the trash barrels, water
the grass when possible, and get the field ready for the next
flying session. When a meet is scheduled they bring in the
necessary equipment----tables, sound system, wind breaks.
As of summer 2006 Bob's group includes Chuck McLeroy, Gordon
Cole, J.C. Dean, Ed Moskal, Tim Timmons and Ben Moore. These
guys will welcome your help, but they do not welcome your
flying while they are mowing. Hard to believe, but it has
happened.

We haven't recovered completely from the disastrous
fire that destroyed our storage building, trailer, mowers,
and all other maintenance and ancillary equipment it
takes to keep the field going. But we are gaining on
it. We have a lot of folks to thank:
The North Texas Miniature Aircraft Association for donating
their entire treasury.
JT's hobbies for the Hellcat engine and a good price
on the kit.
Dave Dingman for the Hellcat radio and the great assembly
job.
All the Hellcat Raffle ticket buyers.
Ben Moore and his crew for assembling the new building.
His crew consisted of regulars Bob Bishop, Gordon Cole,
J. C. Dean, Chuck McLeroy and Ed Moscal, with valuable
help from Dale Sparks, Andy Huebner, John Malcovich,
David D'Arcy and Will Campbell and his dad.
Wayne Dingler and Airport Pawn and Hobby for for the
loan of tools and construction equipment.
