FREE
FLIGHT INSTRUCTION
Flight Training: The Ft Worth Thunderbirds offer free training
for those that are interested in the hobby. During the year
when we have “Daylight Savings Time” you can show
up at the field on Thursday’s between 5:00-6:00PM and
an instructor will be available. We offer training until dark
or as long as we have safe conditions. Other training times
can be established on an individual basis by contacting the
club or an instructor and arranging a time to meet. Even though
this would be very seldom, it is possible that due to business
or personal reasons no instructor coverage would be available
on a particular date. Therefore, feel free to contact any
of the instructors listed below if you have questions regarding
training availability.

Note: The Fort Worth Thunderbirds welcomes all of those who
are interested in this hobby. However, due to time constraints
and available resources, “Priority” scheduling will
be given to people who have joined or are in the process of
joining the FT Worth Thunderbirds.
Early in your training, your instructor will inform you
that you should join the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA)
as soon as possible. This is a requirement to fly at
our field and it is mandatory once you have completed training.
This also provides you with proper insurance coverage to fly
at AMA sanctioned flying fields. You can find out more
about the AMA and apply for membership by going to our Affiliations
section. Our instructors will provide you with a "Ground
School" presentation. You can access it by clicking
